DONATING TO HIDDEN FRONTIER PRODUCTIONS

In response to many requests, we wanted to provide you with details on how you can help Hidden Frontier Productions with a small contribution to help defray some of the costs of making Odyssey, Helena Chronicles, Federation One, and other shows.

If you've been saying to yourself, "Gee, I really like these shows and wish I could help out Rob and the Hidden Frontier folks" -- well, here is a great way to do so easily and relatively painlessly...

Hidden Frontier, Odyssey, Helena Chronicles, and Federation One are considered fanfilms. They build on the broadcast Star Trek television and movie franchise. Because CBS/Paramount owns the copyright to those shows, fanfilms have to respect that copyright by not making any profits from using their characters, stories, logos, etc. In exchange, they allow us to make our fanfilms for the enjoyment of our fans (and, we believe, it promotes and maintains an active Star Trek community).

Rob Caves and his Hidden Frontier Productions has been doing this since 2000, and they have always honored that unwritten rule of not generating any profits from these fanfilms. When they need equipment, or supplies, or materials necessary to bring us these shows of such quality, the money comes directly out of the pockets of these volunteers for things such as lighting, props, makeup, fabric, costumes, software, recording media, cameras and lenses, red goo, and other things. It all adds up. Fast.

So here's where we can help them out and do a good thing. (And for me, and maybe for you, it's a small way of giving back for all the great enjoyment we've gotten from them and these shows. We can provide donations to Rob and the productions to be used exclusively for making the productions. No profits of any kind would be raised or kept, and would only purchase the materials needed to make he shows. This honors the CBS/Paramount license and copyright, and also provides a means for these productions to be made (even on their very, very tight budgets).

PayPal Online Donations

Rick has set up a special account on Paypal just for donations to Hidden Frontier. You can use credit cards, debit cards, or a Paypal account to make a donation. We used this method very successfully last year to accept donations from fans in the United States and from around the world, who made it possible for us to purchase a new editing computer to replace an older, slower, dying one (which has really made a difference in the speed and quality of production of the shows). We have also used this method to purchase supplies such as makeup, fabric, and electrical equipment. This is the easiest and quickest way for everyone to make a donation.

You can make a donation of any amount, from $1 to $5, $25, or even $1,000,000 (don't we wish!!). It is paid online to Rick's special Paypal account. Anyone anywhere in the world can simply go to the Paypal page and send money from a credit card, debit card, or a Paypal account.

OK, HERE'S HOW IT WORKS (IT'S REALLY SIMPLE, FAST, AND SECURE)

To make your donation, go to Paypal at: https://www.paypal.com

  1. Click on the SEND MONEY link or tab

  3. TYPE: * Service/Other
  4. FROM: Enter your contact information here
  5. AMOUNT: Enter amount of your donation (it will probably display in your local currency)
  6. In the notes box, please provide your name (as you wish me to convey it to the producers), your HF Forum Name, and a valid E-mail address. Also, tell us how you would like your donation allocated: 1: Use it for any production as needed; 2: Use it for the Star Trek-based fanfilms only; or 3: use it for HF independent shows (Frontier Guard) only. Also, unless you tell me differently, I will post your name and forum name on our "Thank You" page.

For those in the U.S. who might be a little short on cash, but who have some gift cards laying around (to places like Target, Wal-Mart, HomeDepot, or other large stores where the production might be able to purchase supplies and materials), consider sending them in to the following address (along with your name, e-mail, and forum name).

Note: cards must be U.S. gift cards only. We've found that non-U.S. cards, even to stores found in the United States, do not always work. If this is a question, contact Rick by e-mail below.
