Tren'La

A planet deep within the Briar Patch that had been at war with the Grey Confederacy for hundreds of years. The Grey mostly avoided Tren'La until the Tren'La people went looking for them and stole fold drive technology ("Epitaph").

The Tren'La people themselves possess psionic abilities from organisms that live inside their bodies, resulting in partial telepathic and telekinetic powers.

Approximately 200 years ago, Tolian Naros was an advisor to the Tren'La Royal Family and opened up trade for them with civilizations outside the Patch. Naros would not share his knowledge of the currents with the Tren'La, as he judged they were not ready for such knowledge at that stage of development. Naros eventually left Tren'La and the Royal Family turned to Siroc for help in securing technology to give them the upper hand in their war with the Grey ("Epitaph").

Princess Illiana and her son Aris used fold technology to escape during an encounter Tren'La was having with the Grey to seek help from the Federation in 2378 ("Refugees"). When the Federation refused aid and with their ship destroyed, they were stuck without a way home. Later in 2378, Illiana's husband Kaz also appeared to have escaped from the Grey to find his family and help the Federation in an attempted assault by the Grey. However, Kaz was mentally manipulated into assisting the Grey and later died when he asked Aris to kill him ("Worst Fears, Part I").

In 2381, it was discovered the Tholians, not the Grey, had made the Tren'La system mostly uninhabitable to drive the Grey back to the center of the Brian Patch, to their home Dyson's Sphere ("Epitaph").
